If you do like to be beside the seaside, make these fruity low-fat slushies and take them with you for a day of fun in the sun.

  1. Combine the water, sugar and lemon juice in a small saucepan and stir over low heat for 1 minute or until the sugar dissolves (see microwave tip).
  2. Place the sugar mixture, cherries and strawberries in the bowl of a food processor or blender and process until smooth. Pour the mixture into a shallow freezer-proof container and freeze for 3-4 hours or until almost frozen.
  3. Break the mixture up with a spoon and place in the bowl of a food processor and process until smooth. Pour into four 250ml (1-cup) plastic, freezer-proof cups. Cover with foil and place in the freezer overnight. microwave tip: Place the water, sugar and lemon juice in a 500ml (2-cup) heatproof, microwave-safe jug or bowl. Cook on High/800watts/100% for 1 minute, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves.
