Whether served at the beginning of the day for breakfast or at the end of dinner as dessert, this fruit compote is always delicious.

  1. Combine soft drink, honey and cinnamon in a large saucepan. Place over medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 2 to 3 minutes or until honey dissolves.
  2. Add apples, apricots, pears and peaches. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer, stirring, for 20 minutes or until fruit is tender. Remove cinnamon and discard.
  3. Reserve half the fruit and 1/4 cup of the syrup (see tip) for related recipe. Divide remaining fruit between bowls. Spoon over syrup. Serve with yoghurt.
