  1. In large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, cook beef, onions, and chile pepper until beef is no longer pink, 8 to 10 minutes, stirring often. Add tomatoes and sauce; over medium-low heat, cook until onions are tender, about 10 minutes, stirring often.
  2. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and return to pot; toss with 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese. Spread over beef mixture; top with remaining shredded cheese. Cover and cook until cheese melts, about 5 minutes. If desired,  garnish with fresh basil leaves.
