Authentic Irish Coffee

Cooking Coctails Authentic Irish Coffee

This is a replica of the coffee served at the Shannon Airport in Ireland. It was re-created by the owner of the Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco.

  1. Use fresh, cold water to make coffee - 2 rounded Tablespoons per 6 oz. cup.
  2. Fill a 6-8 oz mug with hot water (to warm). In a bowl, whip or broth cream lightly, so it is still pourable.
  3. Empty water from mug, add hot coffee and sugar, stir to dissolve. Add whiskey, stir. Hold a spoon upside down over mug and slowly pour the cream over the spoon, allowing it to float onto the top of the coffee.
Do Not stir - drink through the cream.
