To make this dish at home by prescription from the author Gomer would need: 1 cup white long-grain rice, 400g lean pork mince, 4 spring onions, thinly sliced, 2 tbsp roughly chopped coriander, 1 tbsp soy sauce , 3 tsp grated ginger, Soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce, to serve .

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white long-grain rice 
  • 400g lean pork mince 
  • 4 spring onions, thinly sliced 
  • 2 tbsp roughly chopped coriander 
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce 
  • 3 tsp grated ginger 
  • Soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce, to serve 

Instructions

  1. Place rice in a bowl, cover with cold water and set aside to soak for 1 hour.
  2. Place the pork mince, spring onions, chopped coriander, soy sauce and grated ginger in a food processor and pulse to combine. Wet your hands (so that mixture does not stick to them) and shape the mixture into small balls about the size of walnuts.
  3. Drain the rice, then spread onto a tea towel and pat dry to remove as much moisture as possible. Roll balls in rice until they are completely coated.
  4. Place a steamer over a saucepan of simmering water and steam pork balls for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Carefully remove pork balls from the bamboo steamer and serve with soy and sweet chilli sauces for dipping.
