Eccentric Haus Fraus Liquid Demerol Aka Amaretto

I made this recipe for Christmas gifts shortly after moving home from Germany. Then a dear friend was getting married in Las Vegas, so I made sure to take some with me to help the couple celebrate. A good time was had by all.

To make this dish at home by prescription from the author shef would need: 1/2 c brown sugar, 1 c 80 proof vodka, 1 bottle brandy, 2 Tbsp almond extract, 2 tsp pure vanilla extract , 2 Tbsp apricot preserves .

Ingredients:

• 1/2 c brown sugar 
• 1 c 80 proof vodka 
• 1 bottle brandy 
• 2 Tbsp almond extract 
• 2 tsp pure vanilla extract 
• 2 Tbsp apricot preserves 

Instructions

1. Combine water and sugars in saucepan.
2. Heat until boiling over medium heat and until all the sugar is dissolved
3. Add the apricot preserves. Boil for a couple more minutes.
4. Remove from the heat and let mixture cool for about 15 minutes.
5. Add the vodka, brandy, almond extract and vanilla extract.
6. Store in a sealed bottle. Will be ready to drink in about 2 days. Enjoy!
