To make this dish at home by prescription from the author sheff would need: 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 large brown onion, finely chopped, 3 garlic cloves, crushed, 1 large carrot, peeled, grated, 2 celery stalks, thinly sliced , 800g beef mince, 100g button mushrooms, thinly sliced, 2 cups tomato passata sauce , 420g can Heinz Big Red Tomato Soup, 1 cup Massel beef stock, 3/4 cup shredded fresh basil leaves.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil 
  • 1 large brown onion, finely chopped 
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed 
  • 1 large carrot, peeled, grated 
  • 2 celery stalks, thinly sliced 
  • 800g beef mince 
  • 100g button mushrooms, thinly sliced 
  • 2 cups tomato passata sauce 
  • 420g can Heinz Big Red Tomato Soup 
  • 1 cup Massel beef stock 
  • 3/4 cup shredded fresh basil leaves 

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot and celery. Cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until onion has softened. Add mince. Cook, stirring with a wooden spoon to break up mince, for 10 minutes or until browned.
  2. Add mushroom, sauce, soup and stock. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes or until slightly thickened. Remove cover. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or until thickened. Stir in basil. Allow to cool before refrigerating.
