This spicy cider will warm you up from the inside out this winter.

To make this dish at home by prescription from the author Gomer would need: 750ml sparkling apple juice, 2 x 7cm cinnamon sticks, broken in half, 4 whole cloves, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 185ml MacQuarrie Pure Malt Scotch Whisky , 4 x 7cm cinnamon sticks , extra, to decorate .

Ingredients:

  • 750ml sparkling apple juice 
  • 2 x 7cm cinnamon sticks, broken in half 
  • 4 whole cloves 
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar 
  • 185ml MacQuarrie Pure Malt Scotch Whisky 
  • 4 x 7cm cinnamon sticks , extra, to decorate 

Instructions

  1. Combine the sparkling apple juice, cinnamon sticks, cloves and sugar in a medium saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Increase heat to high. Bring to the boil. Cover. Set aside for 5 minutes to develop the flavours. Stir in whisky.
  2. Strain the mixture into a heatproof jug. Discard the cinnamon and cloves. Divide the whisky cider among serving glasses. Add a cinnamon stick stirrer to each glass to decorate, if desired.
