Created by Michael Weldon, MasterChef Australia Series 3 contestant, this gourmet meat burger is packed with all of your favourite toppings.

To make this dish at home by prescription from the author sheff would need: 400g beef mince, 200g pork mince, 2 tsp sea salt, 1 1/2 tbsp sunflower oil, 4 bacon rashers , 4 Coles Bakery Kaiser Rolls, split, 20g butter, 40g whole-egg mayonnaise , 4 butter lettuce leaves, 8 slices tomato, 4 slices tasty cheese, 4 slices onion, 16 slices gherkin, Beerenberg Burger Relish, to serve.
Ingredients:
- 400g beef mince
- 200g pork mince
- 2 tsp sea salt
- 1 1/2 tbsp sunflower oil
- 4 bacon rashers
- 4 Coles Bakery Kaiser Rolls, split
- 20g butter
- 40g whole-egg mayonnaise
- 4 butter lettuce leaves
- 8 slices tomato
- 4 slices tasty cheese
- 4 slices onion
- 16 slices gherkin
- Beerenberg Burger Relish, to serve
Instructions
- Combine beef mince, pork mince and salt in a large bowl. Use damp hands to shape the mixture into 4 burger patties.
- Heat the oil in large frying pan over medium heat. Cook burger patties for 2 mins each side or until cooked through. Transfer to a plate. Add bacon to the pan and cook for 2 mins each side or until crisp. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel to drain.
- Spread cut sides of the rolls with butter. Cook the buns in batches, buttered side down, in the pan for 1 min or until toasted.
- Top bread roll bases with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, bacon, burger patty, cheese, onion, gherkin, relish and bread roll tops.
